Crash Landing on You – All Filming Locations in Switzerland

For those of you who have watched this romantic Korean Drama, I am sure these places are dream locations to visit. However, for those who have not, these places are certainly well worth a lot of drooling. Surprisingly, these are not touristic places but the stunning filming locations of the popular series Crash Landing on You from Netflix. As a matter of fact, I hunted down my favorite filming locations of Crash Landing on You during my 7 day stay in Switzerland. To sum up, here are my favorite places and how to get there.

1. Sigriswil Bridge

The Sigriswil Bridge or the Panoramabrücke Sigriswil is the place where Ri Jeong-hyeok unknowingly saves Yoon Se-ri‘s life for the first time when he asks her to take a picture of him and his fiancée as she is about to jump. This scene, in fact, featured in episode 4.

This bridge is located in the Canton of Bern connecting the two villages of Aeschlen und Sigriswil. The bridge is 340 metres long and at an altitude of 798 metres above sea level. In addition, it overlooks the beautiful Thun Lake and the Gummi Gorge. The panoramic views are spectacular and on a clear day, you could also see the Jungfraujoch glistening in the sun.

Moreover, the walk along the bridge is a thrill in itself. For instance, it is quite scary to walk from one end to the other. Therefore, I would definitely not recommend walking on it if you are afraid of heights. But the scenes are to die for.

Getting there: The Sigriswil bridge can be easily reached from Interlaken by bus. Firstly, you must take Bus 21 from Interlaken until Gunten, Dorf. After that, it is a short ride on Bus 25 from Gunten, Dorf until Sigriswil, Dorf. After that, it is just a 3-minute walk.

Tip: There is a charge of 8 Francs to walk across the bridge and you can buy it at the entrance.

2. Kleine Scheidegg

During episode 2 of Crash Landing on you, both Yoon Se-Ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok arrive at this wonderful location and admire the views. We see several paragliders in the distance. Maybe this is where Se-Ri got the passion to paraglide for the first time.

Kleine Scheidegg is the station from where you get the red trains and those take you up to the Jungfraujoch. This is located on the foothills of the Jungfraujoch between the Eiger and the Lauberhorn and has an amazing view of the mountains. As a result, it is the start and end of many good hiking trails.

Getting there: Kleine Scheidegg can generally be reached by two mountain trains from two different directions. One is from Lauterbrunnen and the other is from Grindelwald with the Wengernalp rack railway. Most importantly, this is the end station of the Wengernalpbahn railway and the start of the Jungfraujoch railway.

3. First- Schreckfeld

During episode 4 of Crash Landing on you, right after the Sigriswil scene, there comes a scene where Se-ri takes a picture of Ri Jeong-hyeok and Seo-dan in a walking trail. This location is featured again in episode 11 where Seo-dan gets really jealous. However, in reality, the Sigriswil bridge and Schreckfeld are not located very close to each other.

First- Schreckfeld is a dreamy location in the Alpine valleys and falls on the route of the Firstbahn. There are hikes all around this place and it offers a stunning view of the valley and the Wetterhorn mountain.

Getting there: First, take bus number 123 from Grindelwald station to Firstbahn. After that, take the Firstbahn gondola ride that goes from Grindelwald to First. Next, get down at First- Schreckfeld, which is the second station in this gondola ride.

4. First Flieger

This is where one of the most exciting scenes takes place. Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok are reunited in the most dramatic setting when Se-ri lands with her parachute to see Ri Jeong-hyeok waiting for her in the backdrops of the Alps during the last episode.

First is the end station of the Firstbahn gondola and it is a hikers paradise. For those who seek thrill, there is a number of activities including the First Cliff walk, First Flyer, First Glider, and Paragliding in this area. The scenes are to die for.

Getting there: Take bus number 123 from Grindelwald station to Firstbahn. First is the end station in the gondola ride with Firstbahn from Grindelwald to First.

5. Iseltwald

This is where Ri Jeong-hyeok plays the piano in a dramatic setting in episode 3. Little did he know he was saving Se-ri’s life again just through the chords of his piano. This is one of my favorite scenes and also one of my favorite locations of the series.

Iseltwald is a tiny village by the spellbinding Lake Brienz. There is a bridge and a wooden platform on the lake right in the heart of the village. It is a peaceful location with sweeping views of the Alps against the backdrop of the turquoise blue water of Lake Brienz.

Getting there: Take bus number 103 from Interlaken and get down at Iseltwald Dorfplatz. The location is a few steps away from the bus stop.

Tip: Go at sunset for some gorgeous pictures.

6. Münsterbrucke, Zurich

In the first official teaser, Yoon Se-ri stands on the Münsterbrucke staring longingly into the horizon. The next time we catch a glimpse of it is in episode 16 where Se-ri crosses the bridge several times looking for Ri Jeong-hyeok.

The Münsterbrucke is one of the most significant structures in Zurich that connects the Grossmünster and Fraumünster cathedrals on the two sides of the Limmat river.

Getting there: The Münsterbrucke is a short 12 minute walk from Zurich Main Station.

7. Lindenhof, Zurich

Lindenhof - Em Knows Places

Lindenhof is seen in the opening scene as Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok walk past each other. It is also seen in episode 16 where Se-ri hears somebody playing the piano and goes looking for him hoping he is Ri Jeong-hyeok.

Lindenhof is a historic public square in the heart of Zurich. It portrays a great view of the historical architectural wonders of Zurich including the Münsterbrucke.

Getting there: Lindenhof is a short 8 minute walk from Zurich Main Station.

8. Lake Lungern

Whe

The last scene of the last episode looked like a setting in paradise. This is where the happy couple meets for a picnic and their happily ever after kiss takes place to conclude the series.

Lake Lungern is a turquoise blue lake set by the shore of the town of Lungern. It has some breathtaking views of the valley and is truly a place out of a fairy tale.

Getting there: There are direct trains to Lungern from Interlaken.

  1. Hi Ems, thank you for sharing your trip. I am planning to go to Switzerland with my family in July this year. Our plan is to take our 1 year old grandson with us. Do you think he is allowed to take any of the rides especially the one going to Jungfraujoch? What are the disadvantages do you see of taking him on our trip. Thanks.

    1. Hi Leah,
Thanks for writing to me. I see no disadvantages in taking your grandson to the trip with you. In fact, Switzerland is one of the best countries to be visited with kids. He can accompany you in all train rides, cable car rides, etc. including the train to Jungfraujoch. Also, Switzerland offers free public transport to all kids up to the age of 16. Hope this answers your question. Have a great trip!
      Regards,
      Emily

  2. I actually live in Zürich and have been to the Lindenhof and the Bridge, but I have yet to visit the other places even though i’ve lived here for 11 years..lol

  3. Hi, do you recommend visiting the places by car if I am staying at Interlaken for about 5 days? Thanks.

    1. Hi Thomas,
Yes, most of the places can be visited by car. For First, you would need to take the Gondola to reach some of the spots. For Kleine Scheidegg, you would need to take the train.

      Regards,
      Emily.

  4. Hi, I would like to ask your expertise regarding iterinary for location on CLOY? What airport is more nearer? And location of Airbnb to look upon. Thank you

    1. Hi Asher,
Thanks for your comment. Zurich or Bern airports would be my recommended airport for visiting the CLOY locations.
You could look for Airbnbs in Interlaken as it is a nice base for covering the locations.

      Regards,
      Emily.

  5. Hello.. Im going to stay in interlaken. It is all accessible to go all this places? And if im using swiss pass it is covered all the trip to this area? By the way I have 5 days trip in Switzerland maybe 3days at interlaken and 2 days in zurich. Thanks on andvance

    1. Hi there,
Thank you for your comment. Interlaken is the perfect base to explore the Jungfrau region. Locations 1 through 5 are all located in the Jungfrau region and could easily be visited with the Jungfrau pass. I find it more convenient and affordable than the Swiss pass. The last 3 locations can be visited with the Swiss pass. I would recommend you take the 3 days Jungfrau pass for your time in Interlaken and the Swiss pass for the rest of your trip.

      Regards,
      Emily

  6. Hi there! My husband and I are planning to go to Switzerland on October 2023. May I ask where did you stay in Switzerland? or what hotel did you stay in order for us to go to these CLOY film locations. It’s my dream to visit all the CLOY locations.. LOL!! We are planning of spending 3 days in Switzerland. I hope it’s enough for us . Thank you!

    1. Hi,
If you are in Switzerland for only 3 days, I would highly recommend you spend the entire duration in the Jungfrau region. You would be able to visit locations 1 to 5 and much more with this itinerary. We personally stayed in an Airbnb in Interlaken and explored the entire region with the Jungfrau pass. But you could choose any village like Grindelwald, Wengen or Lauterbrunnen according to your budget.

      Regards,
      Emily

      1. We are staying in Wengen for our 4 day stay in this area. Is it convenient to visit most of the places in your itinerary aboave?

        1. Hey Ros,
You will be able to visit 2,3 and 4 easily from Wengen. 1 and 5 are easier from Interlaken but could also be visited from Wengen. I would recommend you to explore more of the Jungfrau region if you are in Wengen. There are beautiful spots everywhere.
          Regards,
          Emily

    3. If you go to Switzerland I recommend checking out the “Verzasca Valley” in Ticino (italian part) if you have extra time as well.

  7. Hallo Emily,

      VG,
      Emily

  8. I would recommend getting to Iseltwald from Interlaken by boat – it’s a beautiful trip and you see the village from the lake which is quite stunning.

      1. Hi, just a bit of advice. Check the boat scheds first as I think it is close from middle of October to middle of March…just check before including the boat ride to your itinerary. Sept. – Oct. is the best as trees are already changing colors.

    1. This is true – and you can play “Song for My Brother” in your earbuds as you approach. It is a very short boat ride and Isetwald is the third stop from Interlaken.

  9. Hi,

you misspelled the name of the mountain railway to Kleine Scheidegg: its name is Wengernalp-Bahn, not “Wengenaralp”. 😉

    Best regards,
    Ralph.
